Vallen created this color pencil portrait of friend Suzy Gardner in 1980 when both were working in the Hollywood offices of the LA Weekly (the city's alternative newspaper). Suzy had this look about her that made her an irresistible subject for Vallen... like an 80's punk version of a Marilyn Monroe gone berserk.
