Artist's statement:

"I created this drawing in 1988 as a reaction against the wars then raging throughout Central America.

The region was being convulsed by counter-revolution, war, and military dicatorships, while the great majority of people were living without running water, schools, electricity, and basic sanitation facilities.

Although my drawing focused on the conflicts that tore Central America apart in the 80s, it is also a timeless universal condemnation of war."
