Vallen created this print at a time when the anti-apartheid was just starting to gather considerable strength in the U.S. His print depicts an anonymous African man with a simple slogan placed beneath his portrait.

Here's what the artist said about his now historic poster:

"I was naturally overjoyed that my poster played at least a small role in the liberation of Nelson Mandela, the total defeat of the criminal racist regime, and the victory of the South African people's freedom struggle."
